Back To School, But Not Goodbye: An informational and, Q&A with Brianna Snay

Brianna came to work at Heavenly Sweets at the beginning of the summer after her 17th birthday. She also kept her other long term job as a life guard for a community pool, and took 2 hard summer school courses. This year she is a Noblesville High School Senior, and working on graduating with Core 40 and Honors. She has already earned credits for college in finance and accounting. While working this summer Brianna’s responsibilities include making and keeping the store front stocked with cupcakes on a daily basis. Making and assisting Tanya, the owner, pack and load Lil’ Bit the cupcake food truck. Many days Brianna assisted in baking and you’d find her always being helpful cleaning up, doing the dishes, and sweeping. She received some hand on experience with decorating when Karen, Manager and lead decorator, taught her some basic piping skills and let her assist with a few wedding cake details. Brianna also went on a delivery where she was able to get outside of the bakery walls to see fantastic wedding venus behind the scenes and complete set up. She would describe herself as a helping hand in whatever is needed around the shop.

Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: I want to attend the Art Institute in La Cordon Blue, Boston.

Q: Why Boston?
A: The Art Institute in Chicago is No. 1 and Boston is No. 2. I don’t want to live in Chicago, so it’s the next closest.

Q: Why not in Indy?
A: Boston is ranked better and is newer.

Q: Have you visited Boston?
A: Yes, it’s small but pretty nicely put together and well organized.

Q: In a perfect world what would you like to do?
A: Open my own bakery. I would like to specialize in breakfast pastries.

Q: Would you like to stay in Noblesville?
A: I don’t know yet.

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Heavenly Sweets?
A: Free Education

Q: Did anything surprise you?
A: Not really

Q: Did you do any camps or school this summer?
A: I took 2 summer school classes and attended an Art Institute summer camp for a week.

Q: What did you learn?
A: How a professional kitchen functions.

Q: Do you think your senior year will be tough?
A: No, I think it will be easy. I have already got my hard classes over with.

Q: What was your hardest class?
A: Honors English, I don’t like writing essays.

Q: Why did you want to work at Heavenly Sweets?
A: to see what I was getting myself into in the culinary industry

Q: Do you have any advice for a future intern?
A: Never give up, work hard, It’s really past paced. I learned a lot from Tanya. She’s really fast and high energy. There always a lot going on here. Her business has her name on everything, she expects quality. It’s fun.

Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: Silver

Q: What’s an interesting fact about you?
A: I don’t like ice cream or pie.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: I crochet. I have completed 3 twin blankets, and am working on 2 full size blankets now.

A: Pucker Up

Q: What’s your favorite place to vacation?
A: Amish country and Holmes County, OH. They have frat food and interesting culture.
